Counties fight to remain in Mishewal Wappo Tribe's lawsuit

Two California counties say they should remain a part of the federal recognition lawsuit of the
Mishewal Wappo Tribe.
Napa County and Sonoma County were allowed to intervene in the lawsuit, which the tribe filed against the federal government. They say the government can't adequately represent their interests.
The
Department of Justice, however, says the counties are interfering with settlement negotiations. Attorneys for DOJ and the tribe have filed motions to remove the counties from the case.
Judge James Ware will take up the issue on April 25, The Napa Valley Register reported.
